Improving the point of sale (POS) functionality for a food chain business
using
Odoo.
Project Info
Country: United Kingdom / Industry: Food & Beverages / Technology: Odoo
Client Profile
In addition to the extant point
of sale (POS) attributes inherent to Odoo, several supplementary
enhancements have been integrated to streamline the POS-related
functionalities for heightened user convenience.
The Challenges
Sub-Product
Presently, within the Odoo system, it is feasible to
specify a product, however, the
capacity to specify options or sub-products corresponding to the main product is
unavailable. As a result, during order placement via point of sale (POS), the
pertinent options were not discernible to the representative, engendering a
cumbersome and laborious process.
Order Receipts
The kitchen slip and customer receipt exhibited each
option as an individualized product, thereby contributing to the protraction and
exacerbation of the prevailing issue.

Product Classification
The products were categorized primarily as main products
and sub-products.
Distinct product categories have been instituted for both main products and
sub-products, allowing for the allocation of multiple sub-products to a primary
product across varying sub-product categories as per user discretion.
Product Selection
During the process of order placement via point of sale (POS), the representative will initiate the selection process by choosing the main product, following which a subsequent screen will materialize, allowing for the selection of sub-products associated with the main product. The selection sequence of sub-products is structured in accordance with the sub-product categories specified for the main product.
Kitchen Order & Receipt
Both the kitchen order and customer receipt will display
the primary product along
with all selected options beneath it, fostering ease of comprehension and
comprehensibility for the end-users.
Additionally, the representative now possesses the capability to generate
multiple kitchen receipts, a function that was originally restricted to a single
instance in the default setting.
